Veazie Police arrest man for destroying property

VEAZIE, Maine — A local man who reportedly destroyed property owned by the mother of his young child and another person just after noon Saturday was arrested shortly after taking the child and heading to Bangor, police say.

Stephen Gould, 27, was charged with domestic violence terrorizing and two counts of criminal mischief after he was stopped by police in the Queen City at about 2:25 p.m. Saturday, Veazie police Officer Jacob Ferland said Sunday.

“While he was destroying property, she was scared,” the officer said of the 34-year-old victim.

The incident does not involve any child custody issues and the child was not injured, Ferland stressed.

“I returned the child to the mother” only because “I brought him [Gould] to jail, so she needed to take the child,” the officer said.

He was taken to Penobscot County Jail after his arrest and later was released, a jail official said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
